The Sounds of Autumn

I was poking around on Amazon and noticed there’s a whole soundtrack worth of new albums coming out in the next 6 weeks or so. Here’s some of the ones I’m looking forward to:

Oh Sleeper’s Children of Fire:  Each Oh Sleeper Album keeps getting better and better, and from what I’ve heard off this one, the trajectory will continue. If you like your music heavy but don’t want all the vocals to consist of screaming, Oh Sleeper might be just for you.

The Devil Wears Prada’s Dead Throne: Similar to Oh Sleeper, but with a heavier dose of electronic elements and more brutal vocals. I haven’t listened to anything off this yet, but their last album was in heavy rotation for me after it first came out.

New Found Glory’s Radiosurgery: This one I’m mostly curious about, but I expect that they’ll deliver once again on the catchy melodies. I doubt they will have any groundbreaking songwriting, but I think it will be something I listen to a good bit.

Steven Wilson’s Grace for Drowning: Steven Wilson is the frontman/producer for Porcupine Tree, who I love, so this album will be hopefully like his last solo album, which is to say, awesome.

Saves the Day’s Daybreak: I’ve been following Saves the Day since high school, and a couple of their albums are among my all time favorites. Much like Thrice, they’ve defined a few autumns for me already.

Thrice’s Major/Minor: Like I said on Monday, Thrice tends to define autumn for me sonically, so I’ll look forward to this happening again here soon.

Mastodon’s The Hunter: I heard the first single off this album and it was pure, sludgy southern metal. I’m hoping the rest of the album is in a similar vein.

We Came As Romans’ Understanding What We’ve Grown To Be: I’ve heard two songs off this album already and it improves their kind of pop-metal sound quite a bit.

So, that’s what I’m looking forward to, what about you?

Nate
