New Year’s Roundup/Music Monday

January 3, 2011 — Leave a comment

John Piper was on a 8 month leave of absence until the beginning of this year. Now that he is back in action, here are his thoughts on what he learned during the break.

On a related note, here is the Resurgence article on the 8 godly precedents set by his sabbatical.

Since it is a good thing to reassess yourself and your spiritual growth periodically, here are some more links to help you set some goals and reorient for the New Year:

  • Matt Perman’s advice for a yearly review and why to do one
  • Justin Taylor offers a list of some other links (from which I found these first two)

If you haven’t picked this up before, I would highly recommend getting Jonathan Edwards’ Resolutions: And Advice to Young Converts which is great for thinking through areas in your spiritual life that need to grow and change.

Though not related to New Year’s resolutions, I am going to start blogging more on music, and specifically music recommendations. Usually, this will happen on Monday (hence music Monday).

In that vein, make sure you check out the Amazon $5 Sale. They have over 1000 albums available, in addition to the daily deals they have been offering. Today’s deal for instance is $3.99 for Absolution by Muse.

Here’s to starting a New Year off right!
