If you’re part of our reading group, (which I decided to call The Marturo Collective) here’s the rundown for reading through John Frame’s Doctrine of the Knowledge of God:

  • Week of 1/2: xv-29
  • Week of 1/9: 30-61
  • Week of 1/16: 62-100
  • Week of 1/23: 101-164
  • Week of 1/30: 169-214
  • Week of 2/6: 215-241
  • Week of 2/13: 242-301
  • Week of 2/20: 302-318
  • Week of 2/27: 319-368

There is some flexibility here, but for now this keeps it to about a chapter a week. After this is over, we’ll start Grudem’s Systematic Theology and that will probably last the rest of the year, especially if we take a summer break.

Also, Larry, a commentor on here, has several plans worked out if you’re interested in reading Calvin’s Institutes or Horton’s The Christian Faith over the course of this year. Personally, I would opt for Calvin over Horton if you’re picking, and Justin Taylor has some good reasons why.

Here they are:

On Horton, the number at the front is the Julian date, and the numbers at the end are page numbers. So for instance, by the 8th day of the year, you would need to have read pgs 13-34 in Horton to be on track.

Lastly, if you’re interested, I can share my reading plan for the year, but it will have to wait for another post.

Before we knew it, outside of small group, our house had developed into a kind of hang out place for dinners and movies with some of these college guys and their friends. Also around this time, I started a theological reading group (now called The Marturo Collective) with some of those guys to help develop their ability to think theologically and we began meeting at our house once a week to talk about theology and apologetics (following this reading schedule) […]
